40 - If I am convicted of a sex offense, will I be required to register as a sex offender?

The requirement to register as a sex offender within the state of Arizona is statutory and depends upon the nature of the charges for which you are convicted.  Certain enumerated offenses require by law that you participate in mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.  Other enumerated offenses only require mandatory lifetime registration if you have committed the same offense on more than one occasion.  Finally, some sexual offenses do not require mandatory sex offender registration.  However, any criminal offense that is alleged to be sexually motivated is eligible for lifetime sex offender registration in the discretion of the court. In other words, any sexually motivated criminal offense may result in mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.
